Whirlwind tour of Madison

Recently we spent a weekend in Madison, Wi. with a young lady (Bre) who grew up in our neighborhood. She is finishing her Masters at Wisconsin. I call her the bug lady because of her extensive research with nematodes. Asking Bre about her research is sort of like when my Mother asked me what I did in life. She probably didn't get what I was saying but knew when to throw in the "I see" I know when to throw in the appropriate "I see".

Anyway, Bre had wanted us to come down and see the city and UW. So we picked up her mother (Karen) and headed off. Bre had planned the whole weekend. Basically we were on the go from 8AM until 11PM. It was a blast. Some of the things we attended: Farmers market (over 200 vendors), tour of capitol building, State Street, Mustard festival, a prairie arboretum in the country, the UW campus, Bree's research lab, stroll to picnic point, wonderful eclectic restaurants, coffee house, a large bike shop of course, Wisconsin Civil War museum, and a great evening at the UW Terrace on the waterfront for some late night live music. Bre is high energy and we had a great time seeing the city through her eyes.

Picture below is the Raging Grannies. They play often at the farmer's market.

I did remember to tell the dairy owners that you toured the barns at their old alma mater. I also told them you had ice cream there. They said they had recently gone through everything also and were surprised how much had changed since they had graduated.
