More on our week tour ride in the UP of Mich. We had a couple of storms at night where they had to get everyone inside. So basically you leave your tent and bikes outside and make a home in the school you are at. This is our home for the night. Ron and Kathy's area is just beyond ours. Looks like we are homeless.
As I mentioned before it is a very remote area without a lot of people. The principle of one school we stayed at in a very small village said they were a 22D school. There were only 5 in the state and two of them were on islands. This school had 43 students K - 12. One senior last year, one this year, and none the following year. Special rules for sports are required. Coed soccer and basketball. They have to fly to some of the schools they compete with.
Last day of ride it cooled off to normal temps so had a lovely ride down the shoreline of Lake Huron. On the way home we stopped to spend a couple of days with friends from Arizona. During the Summer they live on a lake in Lake Tomahawk, WI. Had a nice 3 hour boat ride - a real treat for Sheila and I.
Next bike tour is not until mid August.
