Great day on the water

Some friends of ours had tickets to go on the ferry boat on the Mississippi in St. Paul. It was a beautiful day 75 with a light wind. Nice to see that a lot of the river through St Paul and Minneapolis still looks like it did hundreds of years ago with tree lined river banks. Kind of forget you are in the middle of the Twin cities. View is looking through the High Bridge at down town St Paul. Kind of interesting to find out that  there was a time when the British owned the land on the North side while the South side of the river was owned by France.  They also said that Fort Snelling on the bluff is the best example of a restored fort in the US. Another interesting fact was that an old trader nicknamed Pigs eye was one of the original people to settle there and in fact St Paul's original name was Pigs eye. Good thing someone decided they had to change that. Big sewage plant in St Paul is still called pigs eye.
