Night out on the town
Few days ago we went to the Arizona Opry with our friends Tim and Donna. Diane, Tim is your shirt tail relative. Everyone said it was a must see, but just had never gotten there. Outstanding performers who could play multiple instruments. It's basically 50's, 60's and 70's music. Tim being a musician has been there 12 times this year alone. He knew all the performers so of course we had to have a pic with each of them. Guy in the pic is the lead vocalist George Staerkel. You old timers may remember him as the lead vocalist of the Tokens way back when. They had several top hits. You might remember "The lion sleeps tonight". He has a 5 octave vocal range. Lots of unique instruments. One was a contra bass sax. Only 4 have ever been produced. It's the biggest sax, weighing over 90 lbs and is 6 feet tall. Only one song was played on it due to the tremendous amount of air required. Place holds 500 hundred people. Have to get tickets months in advance as they pack out. Even days is one show, and odd days a diff show. Then they throw in specials once and awhile. Including the meal the show lasted from 5:30 to 10 PM.
