The weavers are needling

We took one last long hike in the back country of the Superstition Mtns. This time went in from the North side. The peak is called Weavers Needle. It is the best known landmark back in the Superstition. You can't see it unless you hike in. This month we hiked almost 50 miles in the back country and got over 200 miles on the bikes. It has been great.
Second pic. is some wagon tracks that have been worn into the soft rock. We found them off trail and there was a small sign saying "wagon tracks" I don't know anything more about them so will have to look up the story on them. They were kind of in line from a town up to a mine. Maybe used to haul ore - don't know. Found them on a trek to seek out apache tears a semiprecious stone in an isolated valley. Only problem was we had to cross a dry creek which was raging because of the weekend rain. So risk/reward dictated we bag it for another time. Valley probably wasn't as isolated as we thought anyway - everyone reads the gem books.
Today we took our neighbor out for breakfast. Her husband had been a POW in WWII so was great to hear her tell his story. Monday morning we leave for Minnesota. Looks like the weather is getting a little warmer there. Our MN neighbors had a get together to make a snow fort. They sent us down pics. of all the neighborhood kids - neat!!

We have enjoyed your trip to Arizona. Your photos were so great that we got a little sunburned.
