IBM has a great community grants program for non profit organizations especially schools. All it requires is that we as IBMers or retired IBMers devote at least 40 hours of volunteer service to a qualifying organization per year. IBM then donates $1000 cash or $1500 in technology to that organization each year. I volunteer in 1st grade at a local school for a great teacher. So we have been fortunate to have IBM contribute money to the school. While it certainly was not necessary the PTSA decided to put a plaque together with the names of the IBM folks who through the grants program were able to get money for the school. A very nice gesture. Picture is the Principal Jacque telling all the schools kids about it.
