Ever get into one of those never ending projects? I'm there now. When we got home from Arizona Sheila said the old wall paper in the family room had to go. So if you have removed wall paper you know what that was like. Then of course you have to patch and paint the walls. That was followed by of course new curtains. Which in turn was followed by new lights. Oh yes, some new pictures as old ones did not match. New throw pillows for the couch, the old ones will be perfect for the garage sale. Then of course there was this gorgeous quilt that a friend of Sheila's made for her as a retirement gift. Much too pretty to throw on us, it needs to be hung on the wall. So had to make a quilt hanger - out of cherry. No, can't hang it straight, it needs to be folded partially back on itself to add depth and interest. That of course required engineering to add depth where it wasn't so hanger would clamp it properly. Think I just heard mention of a bigger handmade wall clock as the one on the mantle is too small. Thankfully my brother Brent has a clock making addiction.

Like the quilt and really like hanging it on a wall like that. I see how folding it does add interest.
How's the flooring in that room? Does it still match everything else? Just sayin'....

I hope you have lined the quilt rack with muslin (or a cheap fabric) so the lovely quilt does not touch the wood.
Advice from an old (who got older this week) quilter.
Cherry hanger looks very nice!
I think you said to me before that you just used poly on it for finish and no stain is that right?
I once changed a light fixture in a half-bath, it ultimately led to new windows, doors, siding, and a room addition.

Flooring is AOK. Just put in new carpet couple of years ago. Neutral so looks great.
Didn't put muslin on quilt. Wood however, has no stain (natural cherry) and is covered with a very hard clear poly that keeps the wood and quilt from touching.
Brent, I just used a solvent based poly. Cherry is so pretty that I never like to stain it. Cherry will darken over time to a very rich color as light hits it.
