Many months ago Sheila made arrangements with our Pastor to take me up for a plane ride as a birthday present. On 7/28 he called and asked if I wanted to go punch holes in the sky. I took that to mean go flying. Before we took off he explained every gage to me. I asked him about the one that was missing and only had a plug sticking out. His response was it wasn't an important gage. OK I said not wanting to push the issue. We flew over my house (its in the trees in a
cul de sac at top of picture). Then onto a town to the West for touch and gos. He had me fly it over there doing turns etc. (yes he showed me all the steering stuff ahead of time). He of course took over for the touch and gos. There was quite a cross wind so just as we touched down it picked us up sideways, but he had it back down on the tarmac quickly. That was when I asked him how many years he has been flying. Since 1982 was his response - that made me feel better. Heard from the grapevine that he flew navy planes in his younger years although he has never mentioned it. When we got back it was just like parking a car. Taxied up to the pump and filled her up. Then taxied to hanger and put her to bed. Everybody else had gone home. Then
crammed myself into his neat 2
seater reproduction sports car to be dropped off back where my car was. We have a neat pastor.
