Code Talker's daughter and Philly's

Lady in the picture with Sheila is the daughter of a Navajo code talker. She has written a book on the code talkers. She had a lot of very interesting stories. She never knew what her father did as it was classified by the military until 1968. Even then, he did not mention it until 1982 as kind of an aside. She was able to interview not only her father but several others before they passed away. He shared a lot of pictures with her.

Second pic is outside at a restaurant call Philly's that we sometimes go to on a Saturday afternoon. We drive our cars, but as you can see several ride their horses up for the afternoon. Great food outside along with a live band (Western of course). This Saturday a lot of the benches were reserved for a wedding reception. The couple met while going to Philly's. They had a shotgun wedding down the road at a chapel. Men with shotguns stole the bride. But they had several of the guests dressed as bar maids to keep the groom company. The wedding party arrived in old classy wagons pulled by many horses. Was neat to see most of them in period dress.

Didn't think that was the definition of a "shotgun wedding" but this version sounds a lot more fun. Neat you could meet the author.

When I went on the National Parks tour a year ago, the code talker came and talked while we had breakfast one morning near the end of the trip. He was very interesting.JVM
