I went to the mall (maul)

Bathroom destruction is progressing well. All the tile has been removed from the floors and walls. Last big job I was dreading was the tub removal. I was blessed to have a cast iron tub. All that means is the tub is over 300 pounds and only way recommended to remove it is with a sledgehammer. So on with the eye protection (enamel shards are like knives), ear protection (sound of hitting cast is painful), heavy boots and grab an 8 pound sledge. First hit sent shards of enamel all over. So plan B. Soak a old blanket and drape over tub. Keeps every thing in place. Read you would have to hit an area up to ten times before it would break. They were right. Two hours later just the base was left. That was as heavy a piece as Sheila and I wanted to carry. It's done and off to the scrap heap. yeah!

I did the same several years ago. I know they had to hear me hit the tub with the sledge at least a block away! They sure don't make them like they used to. Good luck with the project, I'm sure it will be worth it.
