Norwegian Autumn Festival

We just got back from attending the Norsk Hostfest. It is the largest Scandinavian festival in North America. 10's of thousands attend and more than double Minot, ND's population. Never saw so many tour buses in one place. It lasts 4 1/2 days. Lots of crafts/craftsmen, clothes, foods, from Norway. Ton of stands with Scandinavian food. Most of it fairly heavy with a lot of breading so passed on most. Favorites were lefsa and rommegrot. Then there was the entertainment - tons of it. The main show room held about 6500 and was where you paid to see the entertainment. Each entertainer would do an evening performance and a matinee the next day. We saw Alan Jackson, Vince Gill, and Danny O'Donnell. Didn't see the 4 Tops and the Temptations. Would have liked to, just a time factor. While this was going on they had 4 free stages going from 8 in the morning until 8 at night. One of those stages held 3500. All were packed. Free stage had acts like the Oakridge Boys and Adbacadabra. etc. Adbacadabra was my favorite as they are a ABBA tribute band. Said because of the unique beat to ABBA songs they had to practice for 3 years before going on the road. Everything was identical to ABBA. What a driving beat. They had to warn the older folks to not sit in front of speakers as it would be a bit hard on their ears. Had to see them twice.
All in all a great time at a unique festival.
