I have now completed my first intarsia project. It was a gift to Sheila. It is another area of woodworking I wanted to explore. Intarsia is putting a lot of different woods together based on wood color and grain to form an object. It involves a lot of cutting, fitting, and shaping after you have selected the wood with the correct grain pattern. In this piece the rocks are walnut, the body is red oak, the head and inside of ears are hard maple, the tongue is blood wood, and the moon is aspen. Now we will see where Sheila wants to hang it or not.

Have always enjoyed seeing your woodwork. That talent must run in the family - just wish I had it, too. :-)
